Torque analysis of a permanent magnet synchronous motor using flux densities in air gap

Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) having high power density and efficiency are rigorously researched in various premium applications. Among PMSMs, many studies have been conducted on interior permanent (IPMSMs) to improve torque ripple, but its accurate estimation is not straightforward. Therefore, a six-pole nine-slot (6p/9s) IPMSM adopted as base model due popularity academia industries, other two pole/slot combinations (8p/12s 10p/15s) additionally selected investigate the influence of combination ripple. Torque performance easily identified by analyzing tangential force their direct proportional relation. In this paper, magnetic flux densities radial direction systematically analyzed since determined product densities. The modification stator pole regarding tip thickness chosen key parameter 6p/9s IPMSM. opposite spin more critical ripple improvement. It verified that proposed method sufficient for prediction.
